Introduction
In this brief tutorial you will open a SketchUp model and learn about Rendering Presets.

Open the Model
This model is available from the 3D Warehouse: ExteriorTutorial.skp
Render the Model
When the model is open in SketchUp, Click Render on the IRender nXt toolbar.
- Set Passes to 3
- Click Start Rendering
First rendering using Studio Lighting Preset
Render Settings - Exterior with Sun
It is easy to change the settings and create another rendering of the current scene.
To use the SketchUp Sun and Sky for lighting:
- Select Exterior with Sun
- Click Render
Exterior with Sun Preset
Render Settings - HDRi sky + Background
- Select HDRi sky + Background
- Click Render
High Dynamic Range image (HDRi) sky + Background Preset

Replace HDRi
Browse for a replacement HDRi, downloaded from the Internet
Once selected, set the rotation to suit the model. Use the slider to rotate the image. Stop to let the image rotate to the updated value.
For example, set the new rotation to -90.
Once rotation is set, take down the menu.
Click Render.
The rendering is completed in 3 passes. To permit the rendering program to improve on lighting and reflections, continue processing with Resume.
Resume Rendering
- Set rendering passes to 20
- Click OK
The rendering will continue, starting at pass 4.
Adjust Rendering
It is possible to modify the rendering while it is processing. Click Adjustments/Tones on the toolbar.
- Increase Contrast to 60
- Decrease Saturation to 80
- Click OK
The rendering will continue to process to completion, make adjustments at any time during rendering, when the rendering is finished, or later when you save a native .nXtImage file.
