Årsringen - Case Study
A Flair for Furniture Design (and Rendering with IRender nXt SketchUp Extension)
This case study features Dick Björk, a furniture design professional. Dick is based in Helsingborg, the ninth largest city in Sweden, from where he runs his company, Årsringen AB. He uses our IRender nXt SketchUp rendering extension.
Dick grew up making furniture in the family furniture shop in Helsingborg and went on to study traditional woodworking and wood technology. His professional design career has included work for Swedish furniture brand, Berga Form, and projects for various Finnish furniture brands.
Hello Dick! What do you do and for who?
I design furniture, mostly outdoor furniture for some companies in the US, Asia and Europe. My biggest accounts are currently Quality Works and Jenson Outdoor.
When did you start using IRender nXt?
Around 2011. It was recommended by a business colleague.
What do you like about IRender nXt?
It works good together with SketchUp, although I’m sure I’m not using the full potential of the product.
What elements do you pay most attention to when rendering? I like the rendering to give a fair idea of what the product will look like when manufactured.
Please share some recent renderings you’ve produced using IRender nXt.
The designs below were all put into production in the last couple of years.
What feedback do you receive on your renderings?
I don’t normally get feedback on the renderings, the only feedback I get is if my design is put into production!
Thank you, Dick!
