Familiarity breeds Excellence with nXtRender for AutoCAD

In this case study we talk with Mariusz Olszewski of Biuro Projektow ABC, an architectural firm based in Świnoujście, Poland. Mariusz uses our nXtRender for AutoCAD plugin.

Hello Mariusz! Please tell us about your your company.
Biuro Projektow ABC is an architectural company involved in residential, commercial, hotel, and multi-storey garage design. There are two partners, myself and Krzysztof Koncewicz.

When did you start using nXtRender?
We started using nXtRender for AutoCAD when it used to be called AccuRender, so over 10 years now.

Why did you choose nXtRender?
We had been using AutoCAD's renderer, but AccuRender gave us much better control over the rendering process, and it had plants! Subsequent releases introduced the HDRi background capability and great soft-shadows. I've become very familiar with nXtRender and have developed a solid skillset. I enjoy using the software.

Are there any features in the software that you find especially useful? I find the two-point perspective feature very useful.

What elements do you pay most attention to when rendering?
The most intensive and time-consuming element of preparing renderings is fitting a building design into a background image (especially between existing buildings), keeping up the proper perspective.

Please give us some background on a recent project you’ve done for which you’ve produced renderings using nXtRender.
One of our ongoing projects is a mixed-use building in one of the most important parts of Świnoujście, Wolnosci Square. It is, structurally and functionally, ONE building, but with two different facades to match the widths of the neighboring buildings. A classic, historic architectural design intended to respect its surroundings.

Do you receive any feedback on your renderings? 
We originally started making renderings for our internal purposes to see how things worked and to test colours and material appearance. We then showed renderings to our clients and they really like them! They even asked us if they could use them in their promotional campaigns. We improved the renderings further by adding entourage to the scenes. Our renderings have become more polished over time and we receive even better feedback.

I would be on cloud nine if nXtRender had a denoiser.
