Moberly – Steeped in the tradition of the railroad
Hello Joe! Tell us a little about yourself.
I work full time for Orscheln Properties, a property management and development firm. I also have my own design and construction consulting firm, jdsnodgrass LLC – Outline Consultants, that I started prior to joining the Orscheln team.
What sets Orscheln apart from others in the niche?
By teaming up with a selected group of design professionals and design/build contractors, we are able to handle and coordinate initial project concepts and budgeting, taking the project through the complete design and permitting process, and finally providing construction management services for our clients.
When did you start using SketchUp and ArielVision?
I think I started using ArielVision back in 2015. I have been using SketchUp much longer than that.
Why did you choose ArielVision?
It was recommended to me by one of our team members.
What do you like about ArielVision?
The user-friendly software menus; the ability to enhance certain finishes, textures and lighting sources; the ability to insert your own backgrounds, the reflection capabilities in glass, mirrors, and polished surfaces. The result is a high-quality photorealistic rendering.
What elements do you pay most attention to when rendering?
The correct colour finishes and end finishes of reflection in products.
Please show us some of your recent projects where you’ve produced renderings using ArielVision.
I’m currently working on developing a concept to renovate an existing bank building into a new library and museum. The ability to render the existing building with the proposed improvements has been most helpful in getting the Board of Directors, fundraisers, and general public on board with the project.
We worked on a concept to renovate an existing historical building that has been sitting vacant for several years into a new rural medical clinic. The level of detail that we were able to illustrate in our conceptual drawings was phenomenal.
We have been working with a developer on a new prototype retail store. The criteria was to make it nostalgic and give it an old-time downtown storefront. Using ArielVision we were able to show our client what the new store might look like before it is fully developed.
These are renderings of very nice residential project I did a couple years ago.
This is a downtown historic preservation project we did.
... and last but not least, here is an exterior and interior rendering for a new Ford auto dealership we did a couple years ago.
What feedback do you receive from clients on the renderings you present?
It is always positive. It has provided us the ability to provide our clients with a more visual presentation of our projects. We have fewer, and in some cases eliminated altogether, changes to the original plans and concepts.
… and tell us anything else you think might be of interest.
Love your product… could not do my job without it now.
Thank you, Joe!
